Planning is more uncertain in these Covid-19 times, and walks may be cancelled/postponed/rescheduled due in part to unavailability of leaders.
Walks may also be changed for reasons of safety, due to track or weather conditions.

18 June - Rangitoto (Rescheduled from 30 April)
A walks will walk up to the summit: it's up and downhill on scoria, so wear strong shoes. You will get superb views and may be joined by saddlebacks at lunchtime!
B walkers will be able to go through the Fern Glen, then do some of the coastal walkway to Mototapu.

9 July - Massey (A new walk)
A scenic native bush loop in West Harbour, along the Manutewhau network of walkways to Royal Reserve and returning through St Margaret’s Reserve to Flaunty Reserve and back to the Manutewhau walkways and Moire Park.

21 July - Pukekohe Historical Walk
We meet a local historian who will tell us about some of the important buildings in the town, see some wonderful old trees in a reserve and get great views of the nearby countryside. After lunch, a visit to a model railway will be accompanied by afternoon tea.

6 August - Scandrett Regional Park
Located on the north-east tip of the Mahurangi Peninsula the park encompasses Mullett Point and the rocky headlands that protrude into Kawau Bay. There are three walks averaging 1.5 kilometers each.

20 August - Hobsonville Point Park and Gardens
The point includes 26 ha of parks, reserve and open spaces including a 5 km almost flat, looping path that hugs the peninsula’s shoreline and cuts across the township from coast to coast.

3 September - Eastern Reserves - Kepa Bush, Pt England Reserve & Hamlins Hill Regional Park
Kepa Bush, a 13.6hectare reserve is a peaceful pocket of native bush dazzling with bird life during the day. 1.5 k walk then on to the Point England Reserve, 41 hectares of rural land along the coastal edge of Tamaki Estuary. Last stop is Hamlin’s Hill Regional Park alongside the Southern Motorway at Penrose. There are two 30 minutes tracks.

Situated 64km north of Auckland on the Mahurangi river at the head of the Mahurangi Harbour. Known as the Kowhai Coast named after the native kowhai tree. Interesting local museum.

1 October - Hunua Ranges - Kokako Walk (Birds)
This walk is dependent on the tracks being open.
Back-up destination will be Duder Regional Park.
After a stop at Clevedon Market we go on to Duder Regional Park, a coastal farm on the Hauraki Gulf with an unusual pa site. We avoid the lambing season as access is not allowed then, but we may well see gambolling lambs. Suitable for A and B walkers.

29 October - Huia - Karamatura Walk
We all start by going up Mt. Donald McLean, a short walk to see some great views. Then, the A Group carries on along Donald McLean Track and the Karamatura Track and down many steps to Little Huia. The B group walks in part of the way, taking time to identify many native plant species before returning to the bus. At Little Huia both Groups will have time to visit the small museum, which holds some fascinating items from the early part of West Auckland’s history.

19 November - AGM - Morning Tea and Walk
*Venue: Western Springs Garden Community Hall, 956 Great North Road (Opposite Western Springs).
Following morning tea, we will leave our cars where they are and walk through Western Springs, Jaggers Bush, Westmere Park and Leamington Reserve.

3 December - Botanical Gardens
On the bus south to Manurewa to the Botanical Gardens. 9-10 thousand plants from all around the world. The gardens cover 64 hectares including 10 hectares of native forest. Unique garden collections and seasonal displays.
